Winter Road Salt and Paint Protection Film

Updated: Jun 28

The snow has finally arrived in Central Ohio and with it the perils of driving in ice and slush, plus the aftermath of having your vehicle covered in road salt.

Salting roads helps people travel more safely in the ice and snow. The salt lowers water’s freezing point preventing ice buildup on roadways, and helps to melt any ice already formed in below freezing temperatures.

While road salt is necessary for safe transportation in snow and ice, it is also extremely corrosive and over time can cause damage to your vehicle.  Think about when you drive on a treated roadway kicking up the salt and salt water.  Or when you drive behind or pass a salt truck, and see the salt flying out and bouncing down the road at you.  The drawback of winter road salt is that it can cause extensive damage to areas of your vehicle including the doors, fenders, hood, and undercarriage.

Our cars are typically one of the biggest investments we make in our lives and protecting them from the ravages of the road, like salt, is important.  Of course, vehicle accidents happen, but damage from road salt is one that can be prevented.

You might be wondering how you can prevent this damage? Well, you can obsessively go to car washes all winter long, but why do that when you can take pro-active action in protecting your investment by installing Paint Protection Film.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) or clear bra, is a thin layer of clear urethane that can be applied to areas of your vehicle that are at high risk for abrasions. (Like the door panels, fenders, mirrors – all those areas most likely to be affected by road salt).

PPF Facts:

  • It's practically invisible, and won't change the appearance of your vehicle

  • It's durable, designed to withstand different temperatures and environments

  • It's customized to fit your vehicle

  • It does not require any special maintenance

  • It protect your vehicle from scrapes, scuffs, insect stains, small rock damage, and of course, from winter road salt

Check out this video on how we install PPF and contact us today to start protecting your vehicle from unnecessary damage.
